About Behaviour Management Program Behaviour management is the implementation of psychological techniques to assist in control of maladaptive behaviours. In the case of ADHD, Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder, maladaptive behaviours may include difficulties in maintaining focus/attention and controlling impulses. Behavioural management intervention aims to modify these behaviours and maintain the changes by setting goals and routines, establishing cues, restraining of impulses, repetition of adaptive behaviours and use of positive reinforcement, amongst other methods. Program Procedure Following is the procedure a patient undergoes for the Behavioural Management Program at the BrainWave Centre.
At the BrainWave Centre, the program is run in a series of individual and personalised counselling sessions where a qualified psychologist works with the subject to establish ways of overcoming their inhibiting behaviours resulting from ADHD, Conduct Disorder and/or Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Subjects are assisted in a broad range of needs from everyday living skills to specific task-oriented skills. The subject is directly involved in the techniques for developing better organisation and control over their behaviour. These strategies can be utilised for the control of aggressive behaviour, to develop assertiveness, for better conflict resolution and to alleviate problems relating to bullying. Follow Up The BrainWave Centre can offer further counselling beyond that presented in the program. Further assessments and therapy can also be organised should they be needed. |
